Natalie Miller began her professional career in 2003 working for a local excavating company where she learned all aspects of the business from daily trucking dispatch & job costing to payroll & accounting. Miller was laid-off at the start of the Great Recession and took the opportunity to complete her Bachelors Degree in International Business & Management with focus in Economics & Spanish at Northwood University in Midland, MI. Miller emerged with her degree at the bottom of the economic downturn with student loans & a salary that was less than her pre-degree earnings. In early 2010, Miller entered the next chapter in her career when she entered the financial industry.
Armed with some life & professional experience, Miller started her financial industry career with JPMorgan Chase & Co. Starting as a banker, Miller helped clients navigate their everyday financial needs and evolved into working with multi-million dollar clients with complex financial needs at the JPMorgan Private Bank. After deciding to not relocate, Miller was laid-off from JPMorgan and chose to spend time with her family & begin her education for the Certified Financial Planner© Designation.
In 2017, Natalie Miller returned to the financial industry with a new outlook on providing high quality financial advice and an exceptional experience for clients. After a couple more years of working with other large financial firms, Miller decided it was time to create her own firm where she can provide customized financial advice to her clients on a fee-only basis in which she does not receive any commissions on any recommended products. As she began to establish her financial planning firm, Miller was met with another opportunity to build a shared office space called Grit & Lavender, located in downtown Brighton, MI.
In early 2020, Grit & Lavender Financial Planning was launched, and even through the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Miller remains focused on providing working class families solid financial advice through actionable steps that help them create clarity and confidence in their financial lives.
In 2019, while in the early stages of building Grit & Lavender Financial Planning; Natalie Miller was also inspired to create an interactive community called Grit & Lavender, a shared office space where small business owners & professionals can rent a private office or conference room for hourly, 1/2 day or full day rentals. This flexibility has provided many local businesses the opportunity to expand beyond their homes or traditional offices while building a community of members who are helpful and supportive of each other.
